5-Day Fitzmaurice Voicework Intensive

I will join Fitzmaurice Voicework® Lead Trainer Jeff Morrison for the second day of this 5-day in-person workshop. The workshop is designed to both introduce Fitzmaurice Voicework® to people new to the work as well as provide those already familiar with the work with a more in-depth experience of their voice, breath, and body. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques of Fitzmaurice Voicework®: Destructuring®, to explore a free range of breathing and voice, and Restructuring®, to practice breath management and focused intention. Participants will then explore how these techniques apply to and support work with text, speech and articulation, and singing.

Fitzmaurice Fundamentals

This course, offered through the Fitzmaurice Institute, will introduce participants to the fundamental elements of Fitzmaurice Voicework® (FV). Participants will learn physical exercises designed to release muscular tension, free the breath, support the breath, and expand the range of vocal expression in performance.

The workshop will explore both Destructuring ®, the FV process that releases physical tension, frees the breath, and works through the autonomic nervous system to promote a feeling of awareness and connection to self, and Restructuring ®, the FV process that actively engages breath, and connects it to sound and authentic expression using text. We will also explore practical applications of the work through the “focus line” and play.

There will be six sessions on November 8th. 15th, & 22nd and on December 6th, 13th, 20th from 12 to 4pm Eastern Time. More info here.

KTS Webinar 16: A Women-Ar

On October 22nd I’m co-facilitating a free webinar with Knight-Thompson Speechwork Associate Director and Master Teacher Andrea Caban. If you are female-identifying, join us to talk about our collective experiences working in theater, film, TV, and new media.

To All Female-Identifying Speechworkers: please join us Monday, October 22nd, at 4pm (EDT) for our 16th Knight-Thompson Speechwork webinar (for free)! Andrea Caban and Julie Foh, the female leadership of KTS, will facilitate a conversation about our collective experiences coaching and teaching within, without and in spite of the patriarchy. This will be an opportunity for us to be together, hear each other, and perhaps pool some courage and ideas for how to maintain our power and integrity as speech coaches in a male-dominated industry. As with all KTS Webinars, this Women-Ar is open to anyone ranging from the KTS-curious through the KTS certified teacher. No KTS experience required.

There is no registration fee! Please do register so that we can share the webinar information with you. You can register here.
